Fear, Anger, and the Current World Crisis

In these moments, humanity faces a grave crossroads because of fear and anger.

Fear and anger cause people to behave stupidly.

Fear and anger cause nations to behave stupidly.

"Nations attack other nations because of fear. They search for security in violence, thinking that by killing, invading, etc., they can make themselves secure, strong, and powerful... All crimes, all wars, all transgressions, have their origin in fear and in the search for security... In this day and age, fear and the search for security have twisted the planet Earth into a frightful hell. The whole world is afraid..." —Samael Aun Weor, Fundamentals of Gnostic Education

To Stop It, One Must Be Aware

It is obvious that we must do what we can to protect our physical health. Yet, who is paying attention to the health of their mind?

When you feel fear or anger, you should react as you would to the appearance of a dangerous infection that could kill you or someone else. Fear and anger obscure our perception, and cause us to make terrible mistakes.

Worse, people today have become addicted to fear and anger. Now, people seek it out: they eagerly seek news or speakers who feed the sensations of fear and anger. This addiction will lead to terrible pain.

You already know that the news media depends upon your fear: when you are afraid, you watch their channel, and they make more money because of it. It is not ethical to derive profit and power from fear and anger, yet that is a primary method of modern media and politics.

"Fear is our worst enemy. The demon of fear does not like us to resolve problems. Are you afraid that you will be thrown out on the street because you do not have money to pay the rent? Okay, might they throw you out? So what? Do you by any chance know what new doors will be opened for you? Intuition knows it and that is why the intuitive person is not afraid. Intuition dissolves problems. Are you afraid of losing your job? Okay, you might lose it, so what? Do you by any chance know what new job there will be for you? Intuition knows it and that is why the intuitive person is not afraid. When the battle of thought ceases, intuition is born and fear ends. Intuition dissolves problems no matter how difficult they may be." —Samael Aun Weor, Revolution of the Dialectic

Change is a result of action. By knowing how to act in the right way, we produce the change that we need. However, one cannot act rightly if one is infected by fear and other negative emotions, like anger, pride, envy, lust...

Before we make a foolish mistake, we must free ourselves of the influence of negative emotions.

"Everyone is being dragged down by negative emotions, and this is very grave. There is nothing more harmful for profound internal development than negative emotions... Everyone is being shaken up by negative emotions and nothing could be more contagious than these emotions...

"A negative person can infect other negative people, and if this person dictates a lecture, then he infects thousands of people. They are more dangerous, thousand of times more dangerous, than viruses and bacteria...

"If a person goes everywhere from instant to instant with negative emotions, this person infects the whole world." —Samael Aun Weor, Alcyone and Negative Emotions

Stop Spreading Fear and Anger

In these moments of global crisis, it is essential to avoid spreading fear and anger. To do this, one must first stop infecting oneself.

The antidote to this infection is found within us, in this very moment:

"It is not irrelevant to remind our readers that a mathematical point exists within us. Unquestionably, such a point is never found either in the past or in the future.

"Whosoever wants to discover that mysterious point must look for it here and now within oneself at this exact moment, not a second earlier, not a second later.

"The two horizontal and vertical lines of the Holy Cross intersect at this point.

"Thus, we find ourselves from moment to moment before two paths: the Horizontal and the Vertical.

"It is apparent that the Horizontal path is too base; it is traveled by my buddy and everybody, by those who are juvenile and those who are senile.

"It is evident that the Vertical is different; it is the path of intelligent rebels, of revolutionaries.

"When one remembers oneself and works upon oneself, when one does not become identified with all the problems and sorrows of life, it is a fact that one is traveling along the Vertical path.

"Certainly, it is never an easy task to eliminate negative emotions, to lose all identification with our trend of life, with all types of problems, with business, debts, loan payments, mortgages, telephone, water and power payments, etc.

"The unemployed ones, those who have lost their position or job for one reason or another, evidently suffer because of lack of money and for them to forget their situation and not worry or identify themselves with their own problem becomes tremendously difficult.

"Those who suffer and those who cry, those who have been victims of some betrayal or injustice, victims of ingratitude, calumny, fraud, really do forget themselves; they forget their Inner Being; they identify themselves totally with their moral tragedy.

"The work on oneself is the fundamental characteristic of the Vertical path.

"Nobody treads upon the path of the Great Rebellion if he never works on himself.

"The work to which we are referring is of a psychological nature. This work deals with a certain transformation of the moment in which we find ourselves.

"We need to learn to live from moment to moment.

"For example, a person who is desperate about some sentimental, economical or political problems has obviously forgotten his Inner Self.

"If such a person would stop for a moment, observe the situation, try to remember his Inner Self and then try to understand the reason for this attitude...

"If he would reflect a little and think that everything passes away, that life is fleeting, illusory, and that death reduces all the vanities of the world to ashes...

"If he would understand that his problem in reality is nothing more than a worthless flame and soon dies, he would suddenly see with great surprise that everything has changed.

"It is possible to transform mechanical reactions through logical confrontation and the intimate Auto-reflection of the Being.

"It is evident that people react mechanically when faced with the diverse circumstances of life.

"Wretched people, they usually become the victims. When flattered, they smile, when humiliated, they suffer. They insult if insulted, they hurt if they are hurt; they are never free; their fellowmen have the power to drive them from happiness to sadness, from hope to despair.

"Each of these persons traveling along the Horizontal path is similar to a musical instrument on which each of his fellowmen can play the tune he wishes.

"Whosoever learns how to transform mechanical reactions is in fact entering onto the Vertical path.

"This represents a fundamental change in the “Level of Being,” an extraordinary result of the “psychological rebellion.” —Samael Aun Weor, Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology

To Be Free of Fear and Anger

The consciousness in its natural state has no fear. We only experience fear and anger because we created them.

We can also destroy them, and free the consciousness from those cages of pain.

In its natural state, the consciousness is serene, joyful, insightful, loving, patient, kind. We can recover these qualities if we destroy our fear and anger.

Confidence, serenity, and non-identification are all strengthened by regular meditation.

We invite all of humanity to discover the source of true healing and peace, which is found within each of us.

If we attempt to solve our problems while infected with fear, we will make the problem worse.

When we observe our problems without fear, but with serenity and intuition, the solutions are found easily and without conflict.
