It is no exaggeration. To reach that level of ability takes practice and experience, just as it does with any skill.

There are many factors in the development of this ability.

First, accuracy and consistency in practice. Be sure you are following the instructions closely (https://glorian.org/books/tarot-and-kabbalah/hod), and be consistent. It is important to be very relaxed in the practice. It is very important to not have your attention wandering around. You must be fully concentrated from moment to moment on each vowel. It is very good to visualize the vibration of each vowel on the proper place in the body. It can also be helpful to do some preliminary exercises like relaxation, pranayama, and meditation, before doing this mantra. Finally, regulate your drowsiness so that you approach sleep but do not sleep. This is a critical skill.

Secondly, the condition of your physiology and psychology. If you are physically drained, especially by wasting sexual power physically, emotionally, or mentally, this mantra will never work. Some people manage to conserve some sexual power, but continue to waste energy intellectually or emotionally, thus they do not progress. In particular, if you are emotionally drained (from stress, excitement, depression, anger, envy, etc), astral projection is not possible. Conserve your emotional energy. You must become steady in each of the three brains, and with surplus energy in each.

Thirdly, you must know how to meditate properly. Those who cannot meditate cannot astral project at will.

These are the main obstacles. There are many others, but most people are blocked by one or more of these.

I read several times, for example in the biggest Astral Projection community at Reddit, that many people achieve an AP without giving any thought about sexual power. I speak especially about semen retention.
Therefore, a lot of people seem to have AP on a regular basis even after masturbating or having sex with their partner.
This confirms that it’s rather a question if belief if restraining from sex enhances or diminishes your chances.
If you believe you have have to restrain, than this is what you manifest, and vice versa.

I also meditate on a regular basis.
It’s not that I’m completely new to spirituality and awareness and all the stuff you learn about gnosis and the spiritual path and all related topics.

I realized, in the meanwhile, that I belong to the left-handed-path, more precisely I’m a Luciferian.
Yet, also this path is a spiritual one, especially as I still believe in god as the highest order above all.

I guess I simply have to invest more in energy work, Chakra work, astral sight etc.

There are two ways to awaken consciousness.

1. Awaken it in its conditioned state. Our consciousness is trapped in psychological defects like lust, pride, and gluttony, structures that exist in the hell realms. When the consciousness awakens in that condition, it perceives through that condition (ie. lust, pride, envy, seem normal, even virtuous). 97% of our consciousness is already trapped that way, so it is very easy to awaken consciousness in the hell realms. In other words, it is easy to awaken negatively. This is what most people pursue, yet they do not want to recognize the cost: every action has a consequence. Those defects will be destroyed by nature, a long slow process of devolving in the hell realms, meaning hundreds or thousands of years of intense suffering. At the end, one is purified, but returns to the original starting point but having gained nothing but pain, but doomed to repeat the wheel again and again.

2. Conscious liberation destroys defects on a daily basis, freeing the trapped consciousness. This reduces the likelihood of being recycled by nature in hell. There is only one way to consciously liberate the consciousness from our defects, and that requires: transmuting our sexual power, eliminating defects, and sacrificing to help others. In addition, this creates the soul, which liberates us from the repeating wheel of transmigration. Only pure, clean sexuality can create something divine.
